Streetwise and “Postcards from the Edge” were both very shocking. They both made me think that in a way that it is not true the ways these people are living. It is unbelievable that there are people out there like that. Streetwise was very strait forward. I could not believe that they would be so open with what happens on the street. I feel really bad but sometimes they have opportunities but do not take them. For example when the people that did the documentary offered the girl to come like with them and get a good education she ended up turning them down. Really sometimes they have opportunities but they just turn them down to stick with what they are used to.  In “Postcards from the Edge” the kids were dealing with most of the same things. They both had money problem and when they would try to get money on the streets people think that they are going to use that money for drugs and some of them actually do. With living on the street it is a very hard life to get out of but in “Postcards from the Edge” Shane actually tried to help himself by getting an education. I definitely prefer the documentary because it shows me really what is happening instead of imagining what things are really like. I liked how it was taped with hidden cameras s that they did not have to put on shows it was really strait forward. Even though it was horrible it made me laugh because it did you do not see people saying what they were saying everyday.  The photo essay was ok but I still prefer the documentary. The documentary definitely made me realize what I have and made me appreciate it.

I agree with the woman on how now in society there is a huge disaster with what you should look like. Today celebrities are portrayed as being perfect. With the advancement in technology the pictures that are being taken of the celebrities are not strait forward. The photos are airbrushed to the max. Today’s teens are so taken by these pictures that they are trying to be just like the celebrities that they see in the magazines. This leads then to hurting their bodies to be what they see in the magazines.

In today’s fashion industries you hardly see a plus size model. Models today are always skinny like they never eat. What is this trying to say? Is it telling us that if we are not that size then we are not beautiful? It is horrible to see people getting brained washed but the fashion industries. People will do anything to look like the models do they will even get surgery. Now what does that say to the next generation?

So far with making that change it has been a really big chanllenge. Everything has gone wrong but i am trying to work through it as best io can. before i came to Purdue i thought that i was going to be able to do many more thing with the time that i have. So far i have been so busy that i forget to eat. Wow i really thought that this was going to be way easier. I think that it will get easier when i learn to better manage my time wisely. I also thought that i would not be doing as much walking as i am doing now. I live so far away! It takes me twenty minutes to walk to my closest class. It takes so much of my time and plus it is so hot.
